The Files :
Click on the -Downloads- Menu on the Home Page. Then Click on the version required from
the list on the drop-down menu. Choose a FULL VERSION to get a complete demo. system.
The files that are listed here are all the files that are required to set-up and run the
BusWise system or to UPDATE the Programs.
You can clear down the system and load all of your own data if you wish to do so.
There are usually at least four files located under the heading.
- How To DownLoad- (this file ) is not a downloadable file.
Full mmVnnn Is the latest complete version of
BusWise including a complete version of the WAMP
server software and sample data.
mm is the major release number and nnn is the Version number.
If a user site already has Apache, MySQL and PHP operational on their server
then only the Upgrade File is required. Contact support@buswise.net for more information.
It also includes the 4 freeware (no cost to the user) utilities which
enable you to make the best use of your system.
This file is pretty big, just over 100 MB, so it will take a little while to load
down and it is probably a little brave
to load it down if you only have a dialup connection to the internet. Contact
support@buswise.net for a CD.
Update mmVnnn Files are self-extracting files
which contain all of the latest
BusWise
programs. The size of this download is normally about 4MB.
mm is the major release number and nnn is the Version number.
BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION WITH AN INSTALL
or an Update ENSURE THAT YOU TAKE A BACKUP OF THE
COMPLETE C:\wamp\ directory on the system as a precaution. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
because no mattter how much care is taken it is possible for upgrade files to get corrupted
on the website.
The Update file is all that is required to update any System to the latest version with
the latest enhancements.
REGISTERED users must however take care with their key file. See your REGISTRATION email.
This download can change the DATA structures loaded to the system. For this
reason it is a good idea to apply all the updates as they are released. It is essential
to update the last version before a major release.
Adobe © Read PDFs is an older version of the Adobe Acrobat software which
enables one to read files with a .PDF extension. Most people have a later version of
this program already installed so this program will probably never be required.
.PDF stands for Packed Data Format files and a number
of files in
BusWise are of this type.
There is a special program included with the distribution CD
which allows you to create .PDF files instead of printing them. This provides an
excellent way of storing printouts for repeated display rather than using paper.
This program will then read the .PDF files created.
The Download Process :
When the appropriate download file is selected from the menu a window similar to
will open. Select - Save - so that the file can be written to a temporary directory
on your own computer system. You will then get a screen similar to
Click the downarrow on the right side of the Save in : box at the top and select a
temporary folder to save the BWmmVnnn.exe file.
THEN click on -Save- and the file will download into the folder selected.
The BWrrVnnn.exe File
When the download is completed double-click on the BWrrVnnn.exe file and a pop-up screen

©
will come up for the Extraction showing the name of the chosen folder at the
bottom. Click on -install-.
This will create a folder called CD. The files in this folder are all the files
needed to install and run the installation.
The ReadMe.txt file in this CD folder has all the latest information about
installing and starting up
BusWise.
Please read the file thoroughly at least once before starting the
rest of the install process. This will avoid any unexpected surprises.
Take care when doing the install because what is in fact being installed
is a complete web server (WAMP) as well as the
BusWise application.
The Update mmVnnn File
Please log out any current users while doing a program upgrade.
Wampserver can be left running.
BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION WITH AN UPDATE
ENSURE THAT YOU TAKE A BACKUP OF THE
COMPLETE C:\wamp\ directory on the system as a precaution. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
because no mattter how care is taken it is possible for upgrade files to get corrupted
on the website.
And then RENAME THE DIRECTORY C:\wamp\www\BusWise to be say C:\wamp\www\BusWise000 or 001.
The reason for this is to ensure that the upgrade DOES create a new directory when it
automatically unloads the .EXE file.
Download the Upgrade mmVnnn file from the website.
This is a self-extracting compressed .ZIP ( .RAR) file.
Extract the file by double clicking the .EXE file. This will direct itself to the
correct Directory = C:\wamp\www\BusWise.
When the download is completed you will have a file called 07V027.EXE or similar.
Double-click on this file and a pop-up screen

©
will be displayed for Extraction. Click on -install-
This will re-create the C:\wamp\www\BusWise dirctory which we renamed earlier.
Test that the new programs are loaded corretl by restarting Wampserver then
BusWise. When the new version of
BusWise is running correctly delete the folder
C:\wamp\www\BusWise000 or 001 because we have the old ones backed up with the system.
How to use the extra utilities
These files are located in the CD folder.
acrobat_rp505enu.exe should only be installed if you do not already have a copy
of Adobe © or Adobe © Reader installed on your system.
This is an older version of the software which we provide because it is less complicated
to install and to use than most of the later versions.
CommandBurner.zip Command burner is an excellent utility for creating CDs or DVDs.
It is ideal for creating copies of the complete c:\wamp\ folder which is
positively the best way to backup
BusWise.
This keeps the complete system together as an entity.
It can be done while the system is operational but this is not really recommended
because you do not have a precise back-up point on record.
It is best to take a FULL SYSTEM BACKUP at some regular fixed time.
The system will fit on a CD (720MB) for even larger organisations so a daily
backup first thing each morning would probably be ideal
PDFCreator-0_9_0_AFPLGhostscript.exe is very useful for saving reports.
This utility enables an office to become as close as possible to a paperless office.
Once installed it appears in the Windows list of printers as if it is
another printer. Which in fact it is!
Except that the output from the .PDF creator can be saved to a folder on your
disk and printed at any time you need to do so.
This avoids the need for paper files (filing cabinets) or keeping many paper records.
You just need to keep your .PDF files in a defined directory ( so that they
can easily be found again )
and ENSURE THAT THESE DIRECTORIES ARE RECORDED in your back-up policies and procedures.
